Folktale Week 2024 is over, and I wanted to take some time to share a few of my favorite pieces from the challenge. I tried to narrow it down to ten, but I couldn’t, hence the need for a Part 2!
But first, I’ll share a glossary of terms. The sheer volume of activity during Folktale Week brings a set of unique phenomena which makes it necessary to update your vocabulary!
Art Blindness
The Condition of somehow missing exceptional work despite spending hours on your phone searching for art. See Art Tsunami
Art Overwhelm
A condition brought on by the sense that so many artists are doing incredible work you might as well pack it in
Art Tsunami
The overwhelming volume of awe-inspiring art that comes out of a popular challenge. Often leads to Art Overwhelm
Challenge Bump
A sudden uptick in challenge-related follows
Challenge Discovery
Becoming acquainted with an artist who was previously unknown to you but is now seemingly ubiquitous
Challenge Grin
A facial condition of involuntary smiling, generally brought about by exposure to Challenge Love Fest
Challenge Love Fest
The phenomena of kindness and reciprocity that happens when artists enthusiastically engage with fellow challenge participants
Challenge Thumb:
A lingering pain in the thumb (or fingers) that comes from spending way too much time liking, commenting, and sharing art
Support Deficiency Syndrome
A sense that you want to promote every artist, but there are so many and you are one person (likely suffering from Challenge Thumb and Art Overwhelm)
And now for some Folktale Week favorites! All images are linked, so feel free to check out the rest of these participants’ pieces and show them some love.

Let me know if any of these artists are new to you. Making new discoveries is the best!
Stay tuned for Part 2!
Nooo! Art Overwhelm! It's happening! 😅
