To be honest, I'm pleased that you've decided to move from Substack back to your website, I think you're probably right about its future. I personally don't even like Substack that much, I find it confusing to use!

Looking forward to news about your new community too, it sounds like you're giving it a lot of thought <3 x

Thank you! I have very mixed feelings about Substack. It's useful, and a good way to connect, but it pales in comparison to the old days when everyone had their own blog, and we had Google Reader to keep track of the ones we wanted to follow. Of course, Google Reader didn't make money—and kudos to Substack for solving that problem. But it's not the same. If Substack ever goes IPO, they'll start answering to shareholders instead of their user base like everyone else did, and we'll see it go downhill fast. As it is, I think it's only a matter of time before hosts will have the "opportunity" to pay to promote their blog in newsletters and the notes feed. And I suspect newsletters will eventually have ads unless you pay to opt out. We'll see!

Take your time, Jennifer! I’m sure it will be a wonderful community, with much love and intention ❤️☀️I think that social media gives us the impression that everything is easy and quick, but it actually takes time to create good things. “A big tree grows slowly” is something I constantly remind myself of. The building / creating process as valuable as the final result, and sometimes it’s most important thing ✨☀️

I love that! And yes, you're right. The platform I'm using has all these guides like "how to build your community in 7 days" which makes me feel extra slow. But then I look at other spaces and so many of them are unrefined and covered in AI art. Maybe that's fine for them, but I'm pouring my heart into this and I want it to be something I'm proud of. So slow and steady will just have to be fine, haha.

Definitely 😌 I’m in the middle of opening my Etsy shop right now and I was watching YouTube tutorials, some one of them were very realistic and helpful and the others was like “add a least 100 products in your first month using AI” 🙈So yeah slowly and carefully is my thing too! ❤️

I'm sure that kind of thing is very effective for some. Fortunately there are plenty of people who want quality over quantity and they'll be much more drawn you your approach!

😌🫶 You are right Jennifer! I think for that reason is so important to accept the way we are and finding our people. That’s why I think you idea of building a community is so precious and important ❤️☀️

I think taking your time is smart! Looking forward to when you think it’s ready to share.

Thanks, I think so too! I do have a tendency to perfectionism, and I'm trying to temper that with the expectation that I'll learn as I go. But I really do want to give a great first impression!
